Podcast Publishing Styles - PCI 342

1
00:00:00,030 --> 00:00:00,520
What,

2
00:00:00,520 --> 00:00:05,400
what's really nice about having your
own on your own self-hosted server

3
00:00:05,400 --> 00:00:09,920
that you rent from somebody and let
you own and control your feet address

4
00:00:09,920 --> 00:00:12,720
apart from any company or any third party,

5
00:00:12,720 --> 00:00:16,400
which doesn't seem as important as it is.

6
00:00:17,110 --> 00:00:22,080
Well, it's basically when, when you own
everything, when you own your stack,

7
00:00:22,830 --> 00:00:25,560
you're not beholden to
anyone, not even blueberry.

8
00:00:26,050 --> 00:00:30,440
We could disappear tomorrow and
your feed address is still yours.

9
00:00:30,990 --> 00:00:35,280
You're listening to Podcast Insider, a
weekly podcast bringing insights, advice,

10
00:00:35,280 --> 00:00:38,200
and insider tips and tricks
to help you start, grow,

11
00:00:38,200 --> 00:00:39,560
and thrive through podcasting.

12
00:00:39,710 --> 00:00:43,200
With the support of your team here
at Blueberry Podcasting, welcome.

13
00:00:43,200 --> 00:00:44,120
Let's dive in.

14
00:00:44,650 --> 00:00:47,600
Welcome to Podcast Insider. I'm Mike Dell,

15
00:00:47,930 --> 00:00:50,200
VP of Customer Relations
here at Blueberry.

16
00:00:50,700 --> 00:00:53,480
And this is Todd Cochran, c e
o and co-founder of Blueberry.

17
00:00:53,750 --> 00:00:57,000
This week is going to be a
bit more blueberry specific.

18
00:00:57,320 --> 00:01:01,520
We're gonna talk about the
various publishing options
available at Blueberry and

19
00:01:01,520 --> 00:01:06,320
the pros and cons of each. So,

20
00:01:06,320 --> 00:01:10,480
Mike, this is a topic that we've
been talking about for many,

21
00:01:10,990 --> 00:01:12,240
many years,

22
00:01:12,240 --> 00:01:16,720
but I'm sure there are many
podcasters out there that

23
00:01:16,940 --> 00:01:19,160
are really trying to understand,

24
00:01:19,630 --> 00:01:24,560
I guess the best way to say it is the
several ways that you can publish your

25
00:01:24,560 --> 00:01:26,320
podcast at Blueberry and, you know,

26
00:01:26,320 --> 00:01:30,480
what's the advantages and
disadvantages of both.

27
00:01:30,480 --> 00:01:33,800
And before we get into that,
I wanna really talk about,

28
00:01:33,850 --> 00:01:35,960
there's really three ways .

29
00:01:36,580 --> 00:01:40,600
One is podcasters can publish on our

30
00:01:40,680 --> 00:01:42,680
dashboard@blueberry.com,

31
00:01:43,380 --> 00:01:48,160
and the result is they have a
landing page on their podcast

32
00:01:48,190 --> 00:01:51,720
page that we've provided,
blueberry.com. Number two,

33
00:01:52,510 --> 00:01:56,880
they can use our freely
provided WordPress site,

34
00:01:56,880 --> 00:02:01,020
which is powered by Power Press,
our podcasting plugin. Basically,

35
00:02:01,020 --> 00:02:03,220
that's provided to every hosting customer.

36
00:02:03,280 --> 00:02:08,260
And number three is if they
already have a website or want to

37
00:02:08,260 --> 00:02:12,620
have their own website on their
own platform by hosting with

38
00:02:12,630 --> 00:02:17,060
GoDaddy or Dream Host or whoever they
may pick for their WordPress site,

39
00:02:17,060 --> 00:02:21,860
they can use the Blueberry Power
Press on a self-hosted WordPress

40
00:02:22,330 --> 00:02:25,300
site. And, uh, so really
there's three ways.

41
00:02:25,300 --> 00:02:27,820
So two of those are kind
of interchangeable. Yeah,

42
00:02:27,820 --> 00:02:30,740
because one of them is
the free one we provide,

43
00:02:30,740 --> 00:02:33,940
and the other one is the one
that they pay for on their own,

44
00:02:33,940 --> 00:02:35,900
but use Power Press as well.

45
00:02:36,730 --> 00:02:41,060
Yeah, and you know, the, there's some
advantages and disadvantages to, uh,

46
00:02:41,060 --> 00:02:45,580
each method. Of course, the, the
last one you talked about there, uh,

47
00:02:45,580 --> 00:02:48,860
using Power Press on your
self-hosted WordPress site, we, uh,

48
00:02:48,860 --> 00:02:52,740
we kind of dubbed that the
blueberry way because that really,

49
00:02:53,590 --> 00:02:57,900
if you're, you know, if you're
okay with you being in charge of,

50
00:02:57,900 --> 00:03:01,720
of making sure your site's working,
that's really the best way.

51
00:03:02,260 --> 00:03:06,920
And I think today with before it was a
little more challenging to do your own

52
00:03:06,920 --> 00:03:11,880
because the hosting providers did
not provide as much support as

53
00:03:11,880 --> 00:03:15,360
they should have. But today,
many, many web hosting companies,

54
00:03:15,590 --> 00:03:18,480
they managed the website, they back it up,

55
00:03:18,480 --> 00:03:21,080
they provide security
updates that are really,

56
00:03:21,080 --> 00:03:23,640
really proactive on
their WordPress package.

57
00:03:23,640 --> 00:03:26,160
It's much different than it
was in the past where we're,

58
00:03:26,300 --> 00:03:28,760
you are kind of on your
own. I know GoDaddy,

59
00:03:28,760 --> 00:03:31,600
which at full disclosure
sponsors my personal podcast,

60
00:03:32,260 --> 00:03:34,920
but GoDaddy has a WordPress
package that I'm really,

61
00:03:35,110 --> 00:03:39,720
I really love because they
update it, they back it up, they,

62
00:03:39,780 --> 00:03:44,280
you know, it, it, you still have to, you
know, maintain your plugins and stuff,

63
00:03:44,280 --> 00:03:46,360
but you can set those
to auto update as well.

64
00:03:46,420 --> 00:03:51,400
But it really is to the point now where
you really do not have to have any

65
00:03:51,400 --> 00:03:53,200
skills whatsoever to run a WordPress site.

66
00:03:53,390 --> 00:03:58,040
Yeah, for sure. You know, and, and you
know, I, I'm on a pretty, you know,

67
00:03:58,280 --> 00:04:00,120
self maintained WordPress,

68
00:04:00,120 --> 00:04:04,360
and it's not particularly hard
once you kind of get into the,

69
00:04:04,360 --> 00:04:09,040
into the gist of it. But, you know, not
everybody wants to do that. So again,

70
00:04:09,040 --> 00:04:12,680
we have our, our blueberry
hosted ones as well,

71
00:04:13,040 --> 00:04:15,040
which is a managed WordPress.

72
00:04:15,700 --> 00:04:18,920
But what what's really
nice about having your own,

73
00:04:19,080 --> 00:04:23,600
on your own self-hosted server
that you rent from somebody and

74
00:04:24,020 --> 00:04:28,920
let you own and control your feet address
apart from any company or any third

75
00:04:28,920 --> 00:04:32,960
party, which doesn't seem
as important as it is.

76
00:04:33,750 --> 00:04:38,360
Well, it's basically when, when you own
everything, when you own your stack,

77
00:04:39,090 --> 00:04:42,020
you're not beholden to
anyone, not even blueberry.

78
00:04:42,550 --> 00:04:46,900
We could disappear tomorrow and
your feed address is still yours.

79
00:04:46,960 --> 00:04:50,780
You may have to move your, uh,
files to a different location,

80
00:04:51,000 --> 00:04:54,820
but everything will be there.
And it's still, you know,

81
00:04:54,820 --> 00:04:59,820
you don't lose contact with your
subscribers, followers, your audience.

82
00:05:00,090 --> 00:05:01,980
I call it an extinction event.

83
00:05:01,980 --> 00:05:06,460
You won't have an extinction event
because even if blueberry went out of

84
00:05:06,620 --> 00:05:08,900
business tomorrow, which is
not gonna happen, power Press,

85
00:05:08,900 --> 00:05:13,060
the plugin is separate and
it will operate without us.

86
00:05:13,370 --> 00:05:15,780
Yeah. It's, it's an open source plugin,

87
00:05:15,870 --> 00:05:20,780
so somebody could take it over if need
be. Uh, we don't want that to happen,

88
00:05:20,780 --> 00:05:24,580
and we don't think it will happen
ever, but we're trying, you know,

89
00:05:24,810 --> 00:05:28,100
it's just another insurance policy for,

90
00:05:28,100 --> 00:05:32,340
to keep your podcast online
and controlled by you.

91
00:05:32,960 --> 00:05:37,300
And I think too, the thing that
we really emphasize here is,

92
00:05:37,600 --> 00:05:40,740
and I've said this saying for
many, many years, you don't,

93
00:05:41,060 --> 00:05:43,740
you don't build your
castle on rented land.

94
00:05:44,230 --> 00:05:48,580
So you have the ability to
maintain all of your webpages,

95
00:05:49,080 --> 00:05:50,860
the template that you want to use.

96
00:05:50,930 --> 00:05:55,100
You've got the ability to add
plugins for email funnels,

97
00:05:55,100 --> 00:05:56,140
you can add e-commerce.

98
00:05:56,140 --> 00:06:00,720
There's all kinds of things that
you can do if you so choose or

99
00:06:00,720 --> 00:06:05,680
interface with sites that have
those types of services to better be

100
00:06:05,680 --> 00:06:09,800
able to build your brand and really
building your brand on your.com as a

101
00:06:09,800 --> 00:06:13,880
mainstay of our, our,
our mindset over here.

102
00:06:14,140 --> 00:06:17,680
And with the addition that, again,

103
00:06:18,090 --> 00:06:19,960
we want you to build your brand.

104
00:06:19,960 --> 00:06:24,800
We wanna provide tools and services and
analytics and all the stuff that you

105
00:06:24,800 --> 00:06:26,000
need to be successful.

106
00:06:26,000 --> 00:06:30,720
But when someone comes
to your website and it's

107
00:06:30,720 --> 00:06:34,360
powered by Power Press, they don't have
to know that blueberry's behind that.

108
00:06:34,360 --> 00:06:38,520
Matter of fact, we don't want them
to know, we want you to shine, uh,

109
00:06:38,520 --> 00:06:39,353
with your content.

110
00:06:39,760 --> 00:06:41,400
Build the stuff and just get outta.

111
00:06:41,400 --> 00:06:42,720
Your way. That's right.

112
00:06:43,130 --> 00:06:47,560
So as long as you have that domain
name and the site your podcast

113
00:06:47,600 --> 00:06:50,360
lives, that's, that's
really the beauty here.

114
00:06:50,360 --> 00:06:54,760
And it gives you a place to send
listeners for more information and to know

115
00:06:54,760 --> 00:06:59,600
where, and know where you'll be
no matter what happens on the app.

116
00:06:59,650 --> 00:07:04,200
So while we know that listeners will
consume on Apple Podcast, Spotify,

117
00:07:04,200 --> 00:07:07,000
Google, wherever they
may consume your show,

118
00:07:07,790 --> 00:07:11,360
ultimately you have the ability
within your podcast to say, Hey,

119
00:07:11,360 --> 00:07:16,000
come back over to, uh, my site.com and,
uh, we've got some extra material there.

120
00:07:16,000 --> 00:07:18,920
We've got merch, we've got
the newsletter sign up.

121
00:07:19,070 --> 00:07:23,400
It's really gives you the ability
to build a powerful brand.

122
00:07:23,420 --> 00:07:28,080
And the most important part about
this is seo. Mm-hmm. ,

123
00:07:28,080 --> 00:07:31,800
the SEO piece, and this
is not often talked about,

124
00:07:32,170 --> 00:07:36,960
there's competitors of us that allow you
to build a website with an R s s feed,

125
00:07:37,420 --> 00:07:39,040
but in the eyes of Google,

126
00:07:39,160 --> 00:07:42,960
those sites are still considered
to be syndicated sites.

127
00:07:42,960 --> 00:07:47,130
They're not the original
point of origin for your show.

128
00:07:47,180 --> 00:07:51,850
So when you use the blueberry
provided WordPress site,

129
00:07:51,850 --> 00:07:56,490
you are the point of origin. And when
you use the Blueberry Power Press,

130
00:07:56,490 --> 00:08:00,050
WordPress combination with
a self-hosted website,

131
00:08:00,190 --> 00:08:04,650
you are the point of origin when
you have a domain name map to those,

132
00:08:05,300 --> 00:08:09,330
to those, to those websites.
So Google says, oh,

133
00:08:09,680 --> 00:08:10,650
this article,

134
00:08:10,650 --> 00:08:14,890
this information originated on this site.

135
00:08:14,890 --> 00:08:16,210
And you get a bigger,

136
00:08:16,400 --> 00:08:20,210
a bigger jump when it
comes to episode discovery,

137
00:08:20,210 --> 00:08:23,170
because every podcast today,
no matter where it's hosted,

138
00:08:23,170 --> 00:08:25,730
the the title of the show can be found.

139
00:08:25,730 --> 00:08:30,130
And usually that comes up as Apple or one
of the other, you know, big platforms.

140
00:08:30,590 --> 00:08:33,410
But ultimately what will happen is,

141
00:08:33,410 --> 00:08:36,330
is someone's gonna be searching for
a topic you covered on your show,

142
00:08:36,330 --> 00:08:40,710
and if you have a good written
episode title, then what happens is,

143
00:08:40,710 --> 00:08:43,670
is they will link directly to
your website and they'll say, oh,

144
00:08:43,720 --> 00:08:48,590
there's a podcast associated with this.
Let me subscribe or follow the show,

145
00:08:49,040 --> 00:08:51,710
or just give a listen. So again, it,

146
00:08:51,710 --> 00:08:56,640
your own website provides its own
lead gen funnel for new listeners.

147
00:08:58,690 --> 00:09:02,150
And in some cases, you're gonna
beat Apple in the search, uh,

148
00:09:02,150 --> 00:09:04,790
because it's all originating
from your domain,

149
00:09:05,000 --> 00:09:08,070
so you get more authority
maybe even over Apple.

150
00:09:08,300 --> 00:09:09,030
That's true.

151
00:09:09,030 --> 00:09:13,190
And a Google search, uh, you know, that
happens with some of my shows that, uh,

152
00:09:13,190 --> 00:09:15,190
that I've done over the years, you know,

153
00:09:15,510 --> 00:09:20,430
that everything's coming
from my.com and when I search

154
00:09:20,430 --> 00:09:25,150
for it in, in Google,
Apple's second . So,

155
00:09:25,150 --> 00:09:28,590
you know, Apple's still there, but
I don't know what advantage that is,

156
00:09:28,590 --> 00:09:31,750
but it's, it's a little bit of an
advantage. You're being first in the,

157
00:09:31,750 --> 00:09:32,910
in the natural search.

158
00:09:33,480 --> 00:09:37,510
So the first two things we've talked
about here is Blueberry Power Press on a

159
00:09:37,510 --> 00:09:41,790
self-hosted WordPress site, which we call
the Blueberry Way. That's the way we,

160
00:09:42,160 --> 00:09:45,110
we want the majority of you
to be publishing your show.

161
00:09:45,410 --> 00:09:50,230
The second way is the free
WordPress site that we provide

162
00:09:50,230 --> 00:09:55,150
you at Blueberry. And really
the only differences is that we

163
00:09:56,600 --> 00:09:57,710
li well, the,

164
00:09:57,710 --> 00:10:01,430
the difference is we limit the number
of templates and we limit the number of

165
00:10:01,430 --> 00:10:05,230
plugins where they're self-selected
already. And, and you cannot add to it.

166
00:10:05,770 --> 00:10:10,550
But there are some
advantages even beyond using

167
00:10:10,550 --> 00:10:14,750
the blueberry publisher, which we'll
talk about last, but number one,

168
00:10:14,890 --> 00:10:18,270
the feeds are like
they're on a rocket ship.

169
00:10:18,270 --> 00:10:20,870
Those speeds load very, very quickly.

170
00:10:21,490 --> 00:10:24,950
You can use your own domain name
if you're on an advanced plan.

171
00:10:24,950 --> 00:10:27,990
An advanced plan is $20 or more per month.

172
00:10:28,410 --> 00:10:32,070
And you have most of the advantages
of a self-hosted website.

173
00:10:32,210 --> 00:10:36,150
But the big differences, it's managed,
it's a managed WordPress site.

174
00:10:36,440 --> 00:10:37,630
We back it up.

175
00:10:37,740 --> 00:10:42,150
Yeah. We take care of all the
updates and uh, and all that stuff.

176
00:10:42,720 --> 00:10:44,590
We fix it when it's broke. And.

177
00:10:45,000 --> 00:10:46,270
So you got somebody to call.

178
00:10:46,670 --> 00:10:50,310
. That's right. So you
don't have to even worry. It's,

179
00:10:50,310 --> 00:10:55,270
it's like a little bit even one
step higher level than many of the

180
00:10:55,350 --> 00:10:58,590
WordPress providers like
GoDaddy and so forth,

181
00:10:58,600 --> 00:11:03,270
because we're a lot more tentative to
making sure your site stays online. And,

182
00:11:03,330 --> 00:11:07,830
and because we've really been tight
on what's allowed to be added to it,

183
00:11:07,830 --> 00:11:10,310
and we have the security
nailed, I mean, really nailed.

184
00:11:11,020 --> 00:11:12,950
It's probably from a
management standpoint,

185
00:11:12,950 --> 00:11:15,710
almost better than some of the other
solutions out there on the commercial

186
00:11:15,710 --> 00:11:16,670
marketplace today.

187
00:11:16,980 --> 00:11:21,270
Yeah. It's, it's definitely, you
know, I use it on one of my shows and,

188
00:11:21,270 --> 00:11:23,790
and it's, it's awesome. I
don't have to think about it.

189
00:11:23,790 --> 00:11:27,150
I just go make my content
up it goes, and we.

190
00:11:27,150 --> 00:11:30,270
Go's key, you know, that's what we
wanna focus on is the content, right?

191
00:11:30,340 --> 00:11:32,910
Yeah, exactly. And you know, like I said,

192
00:11:32,910 --> 00:11:37,550
we wanna make the tech disappear if we
can or at least be less of a daunting

193
00:11:37,580 --> 00:11:40,750
task. And so that's another
option for, you know,

194
00:11:40,750 --> 00:11:42,830
what I always say to
customers when they ask, well,

195
00:11:42,830 --> 00:11:46,670
what's the difference between you hosting
it and me hosting it? And they say,

196
00:11:46,670 --> 00:11:46,990
well,

197
00:11:46,990 --> 00:11:51,830
basically our WordPress sites are for
people that wanna use WordPress but don't

198
00:11:51,830 --> 00:11:53,030
wanna deal with WordPress.

199
00:11:53,280 --> 00:11:57,400
Right? That's a good
description. Yeah. And then the,

200
00:11:57,400 --> 00:12:01,520
the other option, which in large segment
of our customers use as well is the,

201
00:12:01,520 --> 00:12:04,120
what's called the Blueberry
publisher or Dashboard Publishing.

202
00:12:04,590 --> 00:12:06,450
You don't get a website for Serb,

203
00:12:06,450 --> 00:12:11,250
but you get a landing page and then
unique pages for each episode on the

204
00:12:11,250 --> 00:12:15,930
blueberry.com directory with all
your hyperlinks and, and so forth.

205
00:12:15,930 --> 00:12:20,130
But there is no, what you get
is what you get for there,

206
00:12:20,130 --> 00:12:23,930
there's no managing that
landing page. It is what it is.

207
00:12:23,930 --> 00:12:28,290
And what we find is oftentimes
people are using other types of,

208
00:12:28,480 --> 00:12:31,570
they already have maybe have a
website on their, their business,

209
00:12:32,070 --> 00:12:36,290
and maybe it's with wic or
maybe it's a Squarespace site,

210
00:12:36,420 --> 00:12:40,570
or maybe it is on an old legacy system,

211
00:12:40,570 --> 00:12:42,250
and there's not a lot of flexibility.

212
00:12:43,020 --> 00:12:46,490
So there's lots of reasons to
use the Blueberry publisher,

213
00:12:46,490 --> 00:12:51,490
because you can still take the post from
the blueberry publisher and take the

214
00:12:51,490 --> 00:12:55,490
embed that we provide for the player and
put it on another website that's maybe

215
00:12:55,490 --> 00:12:58,730
not as podcast integrated as WordPress is.

216
00:12:59,070 --> 00:13:02,890
And we provide the RSS speed
for you as well@blueberry.com.

217
00:13:03,780 --> 00:13:06,650
So you do have some advantages there.

218
00:13:06,650 --> 00:13:10,370
If you do have a secondary
website someplace, again,

219
00:13:10,370 --> 00:13:15,330
maybe it's on an old content management
system, or again, it's just, you know,

220
00:13:15,330 --> 00:13:18,690
you, you built a, a platform years
ago and maybe you don't want,

221
00:13:18,690 --> 00:13:20,930
you still want your podcast
originate over there,

222
00:13:21,270 --> 00:13:24,330
but there's no support for RSS
or something to that effect.

223
00:13:24,620 --> 00:13:27,290
So there's lots of reasons why
you use Blueberry Publisher,

224
00:13:27,290 --> 00:13:29,730
but probably the biggest
one is just, it's easy.

225
00:13:29,960 --> 00:13:34,330
Yeah. It's just, uh, you know, you just,
like in WordPress or anywhere else,

226
00:13:34,330 --> 00:13:38,890
you, you make a, you know, you put your
title in, put your show notes in, and,

227
00:13:38,890 --> 00:13:43,170
uh, upload your file, hit publish,
and you can walk away from that. Uh,

228
00:13:43,170 --> 00:13:45,490
then you can share it out, you
know, we have a share menu,

229
00:13:45,500 --> 00:13:48,090
or you can grab the embed and, you know,

230
00:13:48,090 --> 00:13:51,850
go through a couple of other
services like Headliner and whatever,

231
00:13:51,850 --> 00:13:56,490
but you could also do this
with the WordPress stuff.
So a lot of the, you know,

232
00:13:56,560 --> 00:14:00,930
a lot of the sharing stuff can
be done Yeah. In multiple ways.

233
00:14:01,470 --> 00:14:05,490
And of course, we also give a quick
links page to everybody that wants one.

234
00:14:05,920 --> 00:14:07,450
It's similar to Link Tree.

235
00:14:07,450 --> 00:14:11,570
Yeah. Like Link Tree. So it's kind of
a, just a quickie landing page. Uh,

236
00:14:11,600 --> 00:14:15,650
I wouldn't use it as your,
your sole landing page,

237
00:14:15,650 --> 00:14:19,730
but it's something easy to
say in the podcast. Like,

238
00:14:19,730 --> 00:14:22,490
if you wanna see our
Quick Links page, it's.

239
00:14:23,040 --> 00:14:24,850
It's podcast show.

240
00:14:25,290 --> 00:14:28,450
Slash podcast for us
since we built.

241
00:14:28,450 --> 00:14:31,130
It. Yeah. Podcast show slash podcast.

242
00:14:31,130 --> 00:14:36,010
Mine is podcast.show/geek
news for my personal one.

243
00:14:36,010 --> 00:14:38,650
So again, it's something easy
to talk about in your show,

244
00:14:38,910 --> 00:14:43,010
and what you can provide in there is we've
made it available so that you can put

245
00:14:43,470 --> 00:14:47,890
all your social links. This is,
if you're on the Thrive Plan,

246
00:14:47,890 --> 00:14:50,050
we can put additional HTML links in it.

247
00:14:50,230 --> 00:14:53,000
You get Google Analytics if
you're on the Thrive Pin.

248
00:14:53,000 --> 00:14:56,760
So the Quick Links page is,
again, something that's a,

249
00:14:57,430 --> 00:15:02,000
a quick and dirty way to share when
you're out in public, you know,

250
00:15:02,000 --> 00:15:06,120
it's real easy to remember
podcast.show/some name.

251
00:15:06,350 --> 00:15:10,520
Yeah. And you get to pick that name.
That's right. I wasn't already taken.

252
00:15:10,860 --> 00:15:15,120
And you can actually change that name
too, again, if it's not already taken.

253
00:15:15,120 --> 00:15:19,080
So if you're not happy with the name
that you have, um, you can change it.

254
00:15:19,180 --> 00:15:22,040
But again, you publish everything
right on the Blueberry dashboard,

255
00:15:22,040 --> 00:15:25,560
everything automatically updates on
the Quick Links page or the Blueberry

256
00:15:25,560 --> 00:15:27,960
Directory landing page. Um,

257
00:15:28,100 --> 00:15:32,840
the thing I like about the Quick
Links page for those that are

258
00:15:32,890 --> 00:15:37,480
on, uh, publisher, it gives
them a few more options to, you.

259
00:15:37,480 --> 00:15:38,320
Can add a few things.

260
00:15:38,350 --> 00:15:39,400
Yeah. Add a few things.

261
00:15:39,400 --> 00:15:42,800
There's, you know, like
value for value, we can,

262
00:15:42,800 --> 00:15:46,640
you can put a boost button there so
people can, uh, boost you through, uh,

263
00:15:47,040 --> 00:15:49,720
LB integration or any other, I guess, uh,

264
00:15:50,440 --> 00:15:54,880
lightning Payments. But of course we've,
we've talked that over. But, uh, that,

265
00:15:54,880 --> 00:15:57,560
that's also an option on Quick
Links, which is kind of cool.

266
00:15:58,060 --> 00:16:01,000
And if you aren't familiar with
what we're talking about there,

267
00:16:01,000 --> 00:16:04,800
just search for Podcasting 2.0 on the
blueberry website and we have a full

268
00:16:04,800 --> 00:16:09,200
introduction to those terms and
some of that new way of, uh,

269
00:16:09,350 --> 00:16:13,840
monetizing your show. But again, I
think, Mike, if we think about it,

270
00:16:14,170 --> 00:16:17,360
um, you know, the confusion is,

271
00:16:18,700 --> 00:16:22,240
can be significant for
someone new. But again,

272
00:16:22,240 --> 00:16:25,800
I think what we wanna make sure is that
people understand the three options

273
00:16:25,800 --> 00:16:29,920
really are blueberry publisher,
again, a simple website landing page,

274
00:16:29,920 --> 00:16:31,000
or they can use Quick Links.

275
00:16:31,340 --> 00:16:35,640
Now if you're using Blueberry Power
Press on a self-hosted WordPress or

276
00:16:35,640 --> 00:16:38,480
Blueberry Power Press on a
blueberry hosted WordPress site,

277
00:16:38,780 --> 00:16:43,280
you can still use Quick Links
that's available to you. But, uh,

278
00:16:43,310 --> 00:16:45,800
really it's ultimately two combinations,

279
00:16:45,800 --> 00:16:49,480
the WordPress Power Press and
the Blueberry publisher. Yeah.

280
00:16:49,480 --> 00:16:52,160
One thing nice about publisher is it,

281
00:16:52,400 --> 00:16:54,960
it is a tad quicker to get started.

282
00:16:55,550 --> 00:16:56,383
True.

283
00:16:56,420 --> 00:17:01,280
And we also pride ourselves in
the ability to change you over

284
00:17:01,290 --> 00:17:05,680
to the other FIT system. So if you
start on publisher, then you say, oh,

285
00:17:05,680 --> 00:17:09,680
I wanna try WordPress. So you, you
spin up a blueberry hosted WordPress,

286
00:17:09,980 --> 00:17:14,640
you like that, but you wanna add some
plugins so then you can graduate up to,

287
00:17:14,730 --> 00:17:16,640
uh, having your own WordPress site.

288
00:17:16,640 --> 00:17:21,000
And all of those are easily moved
back and forth. Just give us a call,

289
00:17:21,000 --> 00:17:24,360
put in a ticket, whatever. We'll give
you the instructions on how to do that.

290
00:17:24,360 --> 00:17:25,960
It's, uh, it's pretty straightforward,

291
00:17:26,730 --> 00:17:29,880
so you have lots of options and
sometimes that's a bad thing.

292
00:17:29,880 --> 00:17:31,040
Sometimes that's a good thing.

293
00:17:31,340 --> 00:17:35,240
But, you know, breaking it down to
the most basic part though, Mike,

294
00:17:35,240 --> 00:17:39,280
we have to remind folks that what if
you've already got everything you need and

295
00:17:39,280 --> 00:17:43,480
you just need hosting for your immediate
files? Well, you can just, again,

296
00:17:43,620 --> 00:17:48,440
use us for hosting the media files and
use some other way to create your r s s

297
00:17:48,440 --> 00:17:52,000
speed, um, or website
support. You, you know,

298
00:17:52,010 --> 00:17:56,760
we can just host the media and provide
that very simple media link to that

299
00:17:56,760 --> 00:17:58,720
file. It's not used too much,

300
00:17:58,740 --> 00:18:02,920
but blueberry would only be hosting
files and collecting your stats,

301
00:18:02,920 --> 00:18:05,000
which wouldn't be such a
bad thing because then you,

302
00:18:05,000 --> 00:18:06,960
you do have the i b certified stats.

303
00:18:07,510 --> 00:18:11,160
Yeah. Yeah. The, the problem
with that is also, you know,

304
00:18:11,160 --> 00:18:14,880
you miss out on some of the other features
we have in our feed generation and,

305
00:18:15,180 --> 00:18:19,520
and you know, our system. But,
uh, you know, that is an option.

306
00:18:19,520 --> 00:18:21,600
We have some customers that, uh,

307
00:18:21,670 --> 00:18:25,720
have a Squarespace site and
Squarespace minimally handles rss.

308
00:18:25,730 --> 00:18:28,880
So they host their files with us,

309
00:18:29,110 --> 00:18:31,640
then they publish through
their Squarespace.

310
00:18:32,020 --> 00:18:36,000
And I think there's a couple other
type of web companies that do that,

311
00:18:36,220 --> 00:18:39,760
but they don't really do
a good job of statistics.

312
00:18:39,810 --> 00:18:44,280
So a lot of the times when someone does
that is they want our statistics and the

313
00:18:44,280 --> 00:18:46,200
best statistics is when
they're hosting with us.

314
00:18:48,390 --> 00:18:53,020
So I think the main point here is don't
get too wrapped around the axle about

315
00:18:53,130 --> 00:18:54,700
what we have available.

316
00:18:55,530 --> 00:18:58,500
I think use cases for
most podcasters, again,

317
00:18:58,500 --> 00:19:01,340
if you're brand new and just want to
get up and get running real quick,

318
00:19:01,720 --> 00:19:05,940
the blueberry dashboard is the
fastest way, the next fastest way,

319
00:19:05,940 --> 00:19:07,900
if you're brand new and
are starting from scratch,

320
00:19:07,960 --> 00:19:10,020
you wanna go a little bit more, uh,

321
00:19:10,500 --> 00:19:14,420
involved is the blueberry Power press
on a blueberry hosted WordPress site.

322
00:19:14,720 --> 00:19:16,820
And then really that third level is,

323
00:19:16,820 --> 00:19:21,420
and really the option for
those that already have a.com
specific land WordPress,

324
00:19:21,420 --> 00:19:25,260
you just add power press to it, set it
up, and you're ready to rock and roll,

325
00:19:25,830 --> 00:19:29,220
or you set up something from scratch
and add power press to it. And again,

326
00:19:29,330 --> 00:19:31,980
that's probably the, the third way,

327
00:19:31,980 --> 00:19:34,340
and it really depends on the
angle someone's coming in.

328
00:19:34,340 --> 00:19:35,900
If they're brand new and have nothing,

329
00:19:36,600 --> 00:19:39,890
they might be a little daunting to
do the blueberry Power press and a

330
00:19:39,890 --> 00:19:43,330
self-hosted WordPress site. That sounds
scary almost to some people. Yeah.

331
00:19:43,580 --> 00:19:45,210
Another use case, uh,

332
00:19:45,210 --> 00:19:48,650
with Power Press is it's
hosting US agnostic.

333
00:19:48,980 --> 00:19:53,770
So you could have your media files
anywhere and use Power Press for free.

334
00:19:54,040 --> 00:19:56,730
Yeah. You don't all
the cool features, but.

335
00:19:57,450 --> 00:20:01,410
. And we do, we do encourage
those that are, you know, using the,

336
00:20:01,470 --> 00:20:05,770
the power press without hosting with
us to consider hosting with Blueberry.

337
00:20:05,770 --> 00:20:08,610
Because what we really do is we
speed up your hosting. I mean,

338
00:20:08,610 --> 00:20:12,170
not your hosting your publishing.
Because if you're in your dashboard,

339
00:20:12,230 --> 00:20:16,810
and for those that are not familiar,
when you add a new post to WordPress,

340
00:20:17,140 --> 00:20:21,130
it gives you a title box, you write
the title, and then the body, you,

341
00:20:21,130 --> 00:20:24,850
you write the body of the
post. So basically the
information about the podcast,

342
00:20:25,390 --> 00:20:28,810
and if you're integrated with
us an a k a hosting with us,

343
00:20:29,350 --> 00:20:33,090
the third really step is, is a little
further down on the page. There's a,

344
00:20:33,140 --> 00:20:36,930
an uploader, basically, you
click it, the uploader opens up,

345
00:20:36,930 --> 00:20:40,770
you drag and drop your media into the
uploader, it uploads to blueberry.

346
00:20:41,580 --> 00:20:43,570
We verify the media file is good.

347
00:20:43,590 --> 00:20:47,720
And really without even any additional
steps you can hit, publish in,

348
00:20:47,720 --> 00:20:48,553
in your good.

349
00:20:48,850 --> 00:20:51,160
It makes it so that you basically,

350
00:20:51,160 --> 00:20:56,120
you make a blog post and you do your
media and you hit publish and you're

351
00:20:56,120 --> 00:20:58,320
done. You don't have to go here,

352
00:20:58,320 --> 00:21:02,840
cut and paste and upload over here
and double post and all that stuff.

353
00:21:03,090 --> 00:21:07,680
So it's, it definitely streamlines
things. I I know, you know,

354
00:21:07,680 --> 00:21:12,680
people that podcast Daily that say it
saves them an hour a week or an hour and a

355
00:21:12,680 --> 00:21:15,800
half a week or whatever over
other systems they've used.

356
00:21:16,060 --> 00:21:16,720
And, and,

357
00:21:16,720 --> 00:21:21,520
and one thing You'all have to
remember is this company was built by

358
00:21:21,520 --> 00:21:24,400
podcasters. So we were all, you know,

359
00:21:24,490 --> 00:21:28,800
raising families and had, uh, you
know, things going on in our life.

360
00:21:28,800 --> 00:21:30,880
So we were looking for efficiencies, Hey.

361
00:21:30,880 --> 00:21:31,713
Pay jobs.

362
00:21:31,840 --> 00:21:34,840
, and, and if we could save, uh,

363
00:21:34,860 --> 00:21:37,360
10 or 15 minutes per episode,

364
00:21:37,860 --> 00:21:41,360
you compound that over
a lifetime of a show.

365
00:21:41,780 --> 00:21:43,560
And plus the other benefits,

366
00:21:43,560 --> 00:21:47,680
the benefits of s e o being the
point of origin for your show,

367
00:21:48,270 --> 00:21:51,120
a place to send your listeners, you know,

368
00:21:51,120 --> 00:21:54,040
there's lead generation funnels,

369
00:21:54,040 --> 00:21:57,040
e-commerce over the life of a podcast,

370
00:21:57,500 --> 00:22:02,360
the value and doing the extra
steps to set up the self-hosted

371
00:22:02,360 --> 00:22:07,200
WordPress site with the Power Press
plugin is why we call it the Blueberry way

372
00:22:07,470 --> 00:22:12,200
that really Dr. Drills it kind of down,
because we want you to be successful.

373
00:22:12,330 --> 00:22:14,680
We want you to be part of
a family for a long time.

374
00:22:14,680 --> 00:22:19,520
We want you to be engaged
with your audiences. And, um,

375
00:22:19,520 --> 00:22:24,360
this is why we've shaped the company
and the service the way it is.

376
00:22:24,600 --> 00:22:28,840
We're unlike any other podcast
hosting company because

377
00:22:29,500 --> 00:22:31,480
you have to go over to their website,

378
00:22:31,810 --> 00:22:35,440
publish your media on their platform,

379
00:22:35,710 --> 00:22:38,160
they become the origin
point for your show,

380
00:22:38,500 --> 00:22:42,960
and then you have to copy stuff
into your third party site,

381
00:22:42,960 --> 00:22:46,560
even if you choose to do so.
And that, in our opinion,

382
00:22:46,570 --> 00:22:51,440
is not the best way to grow an
audience and build your brand because

383
00:22:51,440 --> 00:22:56,240
you are essentially renting
land or renting a spot on your

384
00:22:56,240 --> 00:22:59,200
hosting provider's site
to build your empire.

385
00:22:59,380 --> 00:23:03,800
And w why do we wanna build someone
else's empire? We wanna build our own.

386
00:23:04,060 --> 00:23:08,840
And that's why each of
us that are podcasters

387
00:23:09,040 --> 00:23:11,040
here at Blueberry, that's
why we have our own websites.

388
00:23:11,040 --> 00:23:15,320
We have our own dot coms, we have our
own brands that we build, and it's very,

389
00:23:15,320 --> 00:23:19,950
very important to us. So
that's a bit of the mindset.

390
00:23:20,450 --> 00:23:22,990
And if you're on one of
the systems that we have,

391
00:23:22,990 --> 00:23:27,510
and you wanna try out another one, again,
get ahold of us, uh, we'll definitely,

392
00:23:27,560 --> 00:23:32,510
uh, help you graduate to, you know,
any of these levels. Uh, you know,

393
00:23:32,510 --> 00:23:36,190
there are some people that beyond
their control, they have to, uh,

394
00:23:36,330 --> 00:23:38,470
get off a WordPress, uh, you know,

395
00:23:38,470 --> 00:23:41,110
say a company and they're
deciding to redo their site.

396
00:23:41,440 --> 00:23:46,240
So sometimes we have to move people back
to dashboard, but it's an option. It's,

397
00:23:46,580 --> 00:23:48,360
you know, we, we have these options.

398
00:23:48,360 --> 00:23:53,200
There's no major disadvantages
or advantages, uh,

399
00:23:53,200 --> 00:23:57,440
you know, between the two other than what
we ex you know, what we told you. But,

400
00:23:57,440 --> 00:24:01,740
uh, you know, we still encourage
everybody own your own stuff. We'll,

401
00:24:01,740 --> 00:24:06,500
we'll help you build the tools,
get outta your way, and you're, uh,

402
00:24:06,530 --> 00:24:07,620
you're off and running.

403
00:24:08,290 --> 00:24:12,020
I think that, uh, probably sums
it up in a, in a nutshell, Mike.

404
00:24:12,290 --> 00:24:13,120
Yeah.

405
00:24:13,120 --> 00:24:16,060
And if anybody has questions, you
know, the team is here to talk to you.

406
00:24:16,060 --> 00:24:19,060
I'm available to consult with
our hosting customers, Mike and,

407
00:24:19,060 --> 00:24:21,820
and the support team,
uh, are there to, uh,

408
00:24:21,820 --> 00:24:26,820
make sure everything's working and tech
checkups and all those things. So, uh,

409
00:24:27,270 --> 00:24:30,060
we, we, we thank you for
being part of our family.

410
00:24:30,060 --> 00:24:33,540
And if you're not part of our
family here, uh, lots of resources,

00:24:43,870 --> 00:24:47,180

00:24:47,190 --> 00:24:48,620
