Podcast Burnout: How to Keep Your Show Sustainable – PCI 483
Podcast burnout can happen for a lot of reasons: an overly ambitious schedule, too much production work, losing interest in a topic or simply trying to fit podcasting into an already busy life.
In this episode of Podcast Insider, MacKenzie Bennett, Mike Dell and Dave Clements talk about their own experiences with podcast burnout, abandoned shows and taking breaks. They discuss why burnout doesn’t always mean it’s time to quit — sometimes it means the format, schedule or expectations around your podcast need to change.
The team also shares ways to make podcasting more sustainable, including simplifying production, building breaks into your schedule, recording episodes ahead of time and giving yourself permission to experiment with your format.
In this episode:
- Why podcasters burn out — even when they still enjoy podcasting
- How overcommitting to a publishing schedule can make a show harder to sustain
- Why new podcasters don’t need to do everything perfectly from episode one
- When taking a hiatus can actually help your podcast
- How changing your format, frequency or topic can bring new energy to a show
- Why building vacations and seasonal breaks into your schedule can help
- How recording ahead and scheduling episodes can reduce pressure
- Why podcasters should create a workflow that works for their own life, not someone else’s
- How Blubrry tools and support can help simplify the publishing process
There isn’t one perfect podcast schedule or production process. The most sustainable approach is the one that allows you to keep creating without turning your podcast into something you dread.
If you’re feeling burned out, taking a break, simplifying your process or changing things up might be exactly what your show needs.

00:00:02.639 --> 00:00:05.279
- Welcome to Podcast Insider. My name is Mackenzie
2
00:00:05.279 --> 00:00:07.599
- Bennett. I'm here with Mike and Dave, all
3
00:00:07.599 --> 00:00:09.599
- from the Blueberry team. Thanks for joining me,
4
00:00:09.599 --> 00:00:10.099
- guys.
5
00:00:10.719 --> 00:00:11.219
- Yeah.
6
00:00:12.000 --> 00:00:13.380
- Yeah. Good to be here,
7
00:00:14.160 --> 00:00:14.980
- as usual.
8
00:00:16.254 --> 00:00:17.614
- Yeah. We're getting back in the swing of
9
00:00:17.614 --> 00:00:18.835
- things with this podcast
10
00:00:19.295 --> 00:00:19.795
- and,
11
00:00:20.574 --> 00:00:22.574
- trying to make it a little bit easier
12
00:00:22.574 --> 00:00:24.734
- on ourselves and, hopefully, a little bit more
13
00:00:24.734 --> 00:00:26.355
- enjoyable for you guys' listeners.
14
00:00:27.375 --> 00:00:28.594
- Today, we've got
15
00:00:29.609 --> 00:00:32.969
- burnout podcast burnout. And how do you stop
16
00:00:32.969 --> 00:00:34.510
- that from happening? Why,
17
00:00:35.289 --> 00:00:37.609
- in general, like, how does that work? We've
18
00:00:37.609 --> 00:00:39.530
- all been doing podcasts for a long, long
19
00:00:39.530 --> 00:00:41.770
- time now, so I think we all have
20
00:00:41.770 --> 00:00:43.034
- a bit to say about it.
21
00:00:44.795 --> 00:00:45.854
- Yeah. For sure.
22
00:00:47.594 --> 00:00:49.515
- Great minds, man. We're just Mike and I
23
00:00:49.515 --> 00:00:51.594
- are just gonna mimic each other the whole
24
00:00:51.594 --> 00:00:53.674
- time. We're gonna say the exact same things.
25
00:00:53.674 --> 00:00:54.975
- That's what we're here for.
26
00:00:55.370 --> 00:00:58.270
- Well, you know, my my history of podcasting
27
00:00:58.490 --> 00:01:00.670
- is I start a lot of shows
28
00:01:01.370 --> 00:01:02.990
- and then stop a lot of shows.
29
00:01:03.850 --> 00:01:05.450
- And and a lot of times, it is
30
00:01:05.450 --> 00:01:05.950
- burnout.
31
00:01:06.810 --> 00:01:09.290
- Not that you know, I I don't feel
32
00:01:09.290 --> 00:01:09.790
- overworked
33
00:01:11.444 --> 00:01:11.944
- necessarily,
34
00:01:13.045 --> 00:01:15.365
- but just sometimes you burn out on the
35
00:01:15.365 --> 00:01:15.865
- topic.
36
00:01:16.645 --> 00:01:18.564
- Mhmm. You know, in my case, you know,
37
00:01:18.564 --> 00:01:19.064
- I
38
00:01:19.444 --> 00:01:20.905
- I started a show about
39
00:01:21.365 --> 00:01:23.784
- something, and then, you know,
40
00:01:24.170 --> 00:01:26.810
- six months down the road, that something isn't
41
00:01:26.810 --> 00:01:28.750
- as interesting as it once was.
42
00:01:29.450 --> 00:01:31.769
- And, you know, that can be a source
43
00:01:31.769 --> 00:01:32.509
- of burnout.
44
00:01:34.250 --> 00:01:36.750
- You know, another one that I've run across,
45
00:01:37.584 --> 00:01:39.844
- not necessarily me, but, you know, a schedule.
46
00:01:39.905 --> 00:01:41.905
- You know? Oh my gosh. We gotta get
47
00:01:41.905 --> 00:01:44.944
- a show out today. You know? And that
48
00:01:44.944 --> 00:01:47.924
- can be trying, especially when life happens.
49
00:01:49.104 --> 00:01:50.724
- Yeah. Those are probably
50
00:01:51.439 --> 00:01:53.700
- two of the most common things that
51
00:01:54.239 --> 00:01:56.019
- I've heard talking to podcasters
52
00:01:56.799 --> 00:01:58.579
- and running into that myself.
53
00:01:58.959 --> 00:02:00.420
- And I am a person who
54
00:02:00.799 --> 00:02:04.340
- will bounce from excited idea to excited idea.
55
00:02:04.564 --> 00:02:06.004
- So I've actually gotten to a point where
56
00:02:06.004 --> 00:02:08.245
- I'm like, I do not create a new
57
00:02:08.245 --> 00:02:10.724
- podcast unless I know that I will, you
58
00:02:10.724 --> 00:02:11.224
- know,
59
00:02:11.764 --> 00:02:13.305
- be able to focus on it
60
00:02:13.685 --> 00:02:14.185
- and
61
00:02:14.564 --> 00:02:15.865
- spend quality time
62
00:02:16.245 --> 00:02:18.025
- producing it because
63
00:02:18.564 --> 00:02:19.384
- I I will
64
00:02:19.900 --> 00:02:21.439
- I'll jump ship so fast.
65
00:02:22.539 --> 00:02:24.939
- It it's bad when when, like, you know,
66
00:02:24.939 --> 00:02:26.539
- here, we can be like, yeah. I'm gonna
67
00:02:26.539 --> 00:02:28.699
- start a show as a test or something
68
00:02:28.699 --> 00:02:30.620
- like that, and we can do that willy
69
00:02:30.620 --> 00:02:33.199
- nilly. And I've created and
70
00:02:33.794 --> 00:02:35.794
- deleted I don't know how many shows in
71
00:02:35.794 --> 00:02:37.814
- the last eight years. It's crazy.
72
00:02:38.194 --> 00:02:39.555
- To be honest, I feel like both of
73
00:02:39.555 --> 00:02:40.754
- you have a bit of a case of,
74
00:02:40.995 --> 00:02:42.055
- podcast abandonment.
75
00:02:42.995 --> 00:02:43.974
- Well yeah.
76
00:02:44.354 --> 00:02:45.254
- Sorta, kinda.
77
00:02:46.319 --> 00:02:48.800
- There's no I mean, that's totally fine. But,
78
00:02:48.800 --> 00:02:50.400
- also, at the same time, like, do you
79
00:02:50.400 --> 00:02:52.479
- think maybe that's happened because you did start
80
00:02:52.479 --> 00:02:53.379
- a show that
81
00:02:54.000 --> 00:02:55.620
- then you got burnout on?
82
00:02:55.919 --> 00:02:57.759
- Yeah. Well, like I said, in my case,
83
00:02:57.759 --> 00:02:58.259
- it's,
84
00:02:58.914 --> 00:03:00.134
- you know, either I
85
00:03:00.594 --> 00:03:01.094
- overcommit
86
00:03:01.715 --> 00:03:05.235
- to a schedule or I find something that
87
00:03:05.235 --> 00:03:07.474
- I'm really interested in for a short period
88
00:03:07.474 --> 00:03:08.134
- of time.
89
00:03:08.995 --> 00:03:10.134
- You know what I mean?
90
00:03:10.435 --> 00:03:10.919
- But,
91
00:03:11.319 --> 00:03:12.620
- you know, like my normal
92
00:03:13.479 --> 00:03:15.479
- show that I do, I I don't have
93
00:03:15.479 --> 00:03:16.139
- a schedule.
94
00:03:16.439 --> 00:03:18.459
- I don't have a particular topic,
95
00:03:19.000 --> 00:03:19.500
- and
96
00:03:19.800 --> 00:03:22.759
- I don't do it particularly often. But I
97
00:03:22.759 --> 00:03:23.259
- do
98
00:03:23.805 --> 00:03:24.864
- still do it.
99
00:03:25.485 --> 00:03:27.805
- But I've built that one in such a
100
00:03:27.805 --> 00:03:29.485
- way that I can't burn out on it
101
00:03:29.485 --> 00:03:31.084
- because if I don't feel like making a
102
00:03:31.084 --> 00:03:32.944
- podcast, I just don't make one
103
00:03:34.525 --> 00:03:35.485
- for for that,
104
00:03:35.884 --> 00:03:36.625
- that show.
105
00:03:36.930 --> 00:03:38.370
- I think, you know, like I said, the
106
00:03:38.370 --> 00:03:41.270
- biggest thing is overcommitting to a schedule
107
00:03:41.969 --> 00:03:42.469
- or
108
00:03:42.849 --> 00:03:43.349
- overcomplicating
109
00:03:44.290 --> 00:03:45.189
- your process.
110
00:03:46.129 --> 00:03:47.969
- Sometimes it's just good to flip the mic
111
00:03:47.969 --> 00:03:49.650
- on and talk. That's what we're doing with
112
00:03:49.650 --> 00:03:50.710
- this one somewhat
113
00:03:51.250 --> 00:03:51.990
- these days,
114
00:03:53.724 --> 00:03:55.824
- where, you know, we're not doing
115
00:03:56.284 --> 00:03:58.705
- massive show prep. We're not doing
116
00:03:59.004 --> 00:04:00.064
- massive postproduction.
117
00:04:00.764 --> 00:04:01.905
- You know? We're just,
118
00:04:02.444 --> 00:04:04.205
- you know, three of us getting on here
119
00:04:04.205 --> 00:04:07.219
- and shooting the breeze about a particular subject
120
00:04:07.360 --> 00:04:08.260
- around podcasting.
121
00:04:09.040 --> 00:04:09.540
- Mhmm.
122
00:04:09.919 --> 00:04:11.840
- So it's gonna be harder to burn out
123
00:04:11.840 --> 00:04:13.300
- on something like this
124
00:04:14.479 --> 00:04:16.560
- than it would be, you know, a very
125
00:04:16.560 --> 00:04:18.800
- formatted show where you you need to do
126
00:04:18.800 --> 00:04:20.495
- it at in segments and all. And there's
127
00:04:20.495 --> 00:04:22.814
- nothing wrong with with doing all of that.
128
00:04:22.814 --> 00:04:24.975
- In fact, you know, you probably have good
129
00:04:24.975 --> 00:04:27.714
- success with that. But, you know, just beware
130
00:04:27.855 --> 00:04:28.595
- how much
131
00:04:29.134 --> 00:04:31.455
- effort has to be put in and are
132
00:04:31.535 --> 00:04:33.795
- do you wanna do that on a sustained
133
00:04:33.855 --> 00:04:34.355
- basis?
134
00:04:35.540 --> 00:04:36.920
- Yeah. I think for me,
135
00:04:37.300 --> 00:04:38.680
- I love having ideas.
136
00:04:39.060 --> 00:04:41.879
- I love daydreaming and going, oh, this is
137
00:04:42.019 --> 00:04:43.879
- this is a cool thing I could do.
138
00:04:44.500 --> 00:04:46.360
- I have the resources to do it
139
00:04:46.685 --> 00:04:47.985
- through my job at Blueberry.
140
00:04:49.165 --> 00:04:51.105
- And that's typically where
141
00:04:51.725 --> 00:04:54.225
- those shows that, like, existed for one episode
142
00:04:54.285 --> 00:04:55.185
- and then disappeared,
143
00:04:55.485 --> 00:04:57.085
- that's usually where they come from. Because I
144
00:04:57.085 --> 00:04:57.904
- will get hyperfixated
145
00:04:58.365 --> 00:04:58.865
- on
146
00:04:59.509 --> 00:05:01.589
- some topic. And I'm like, oh, I could
147
00:05:01.589 --> 00:05:03.589
- talk about this for hours and hours on
148
00:05:03.589 --> 00:05:05.930
- end, so let's build a podcast around that.
149
00:05:06.389 --> 00:05:06.889
- And
150
00:05:07.430 --> 00:05:10.949
- then I kind of stop after I've, you
151
00:05:10.949 --> 00:05:14.225
- know, spent hours making artwork and recording the
152
00:05:14.225 --> 00:05:16.965
- first episode and editing the first episode. And
153
00:05:17.345 --> 00:05:18.805
- then I'm just like, okay.
154
00:05:19.185 --> 00:05:21.824
- This idea doesn't feel fun anymore. Let's move
155
00:05:21.824 --> 00:05:22.324
- on.
156
00:05:23.345 --> 00:05:25.205
- So that's that's part of my
157
00:05:26.169 --> 00:05:27.629
- my reasoning for
158
00:05:28.250 --> 00:05:29.229
- dropping shows.
159
00:05:29.529 --> 00:05:31.870
- So I don't know if it's burnout necessarily.
160
00:05:32.410 --> 00:05:33.629
- It's pod food.
161
00:05:34.649 --> 00:05:36.409
- Yeah. I mean, I have like, I did
162
00:05:36.409 --> 00:05:38.509
- do so my very first show,
163
00:05:39.004 --> 00:05:41.404
- that I stopped doing, and I did burn
164
00:05:41.404 --> 00:05:43.165
- out on that. And the reason so that
165
00:05:43.165 --> 00:05:46.285
- was a, like, movie review comic book, you
166
00:05:46.285 --> 00:05:48.144
- know, super nerdy thing.
167
00:05:48.845 --> 00:05:52.110
- I stopped doing that because I wasn't burn
168
00:05:52.110 --> 00:05:54.110
- out with doing a podcast. I got burned
169
00:05:54.110 --> 00:05:54.930
- out because
170
00:05:55.470 --> 00:05:57.090
- the culture around
171
00:05:57.949 --> 00:05:58.930
- movie reviewing
172
00:05:59.389 --> 00:06:01.389
- became just so toxic that I was just
173
00:06:01.389 --> 00:06:02.850
- like, this is not enjoyable
174
00:06:03.230 --> 00:06:03.730
- anymore.
175
00:06:04.590 --> 00:06:07.134
- And then the other, you know, the d
176
00:06:07.134 --> 00:06:08.035
- and d podcast,
177
00:06:08.415 --> 00:06:09.875
- that stopped because just
178
00:06:10.415 --> 00:06:13.295
- we didn't have the the time to keep
179
00:06:13.295 --> 00:06:16.035
- doing it. So it's like, I think burnout
180
00:06:16.735 --> 00:06:17.395
- to me
181
00:06:18.129 --> 00:06:20.470
- is multiple things. It's not just one,
182
00:06:21.970 --> 00:06:24.310
- it's not one formula that leads to burnout.
183
00:06:25.009 --> 00:06:26.310
- So what do we think
184
00:06:26.689 --> 00:06:27.189
- helps
185
00:06:27.569 --> 00:06:30.210
- prevent you from getting burned out and stopping
186
00:06:30.210 --> 00:06:31.910
- your show perhaps? Is it
187
00:06:32.644 --> 00:06:35.365
- taking a hiatus for a month, you know,
188
00:06:35.365 --> 00:06:37.384
- kinda take a sabbatical maybe?
189
00:06:38.404 --> 00:06:38.904
- Is
190
00:06:40.404 --> 00:06:42.884
- it changing it to less episodes? Is it
191
00:06:42.884 --> 00:06:44.724
- changing the format? Like, is it a little
192
00:06:44.724 --> 00:06:45.464
- bit of everything?
193
00:06:45.910 --> 00:06:47.850
- Yeah. I I think it's a little everything.
194
00:06:47.910 --> 00:06:49.990
- And, again, it's, like, it's unique to that
195
00:06:49.990 --> 00:06:51.370
- person in that show.
196
00:06:52.629 --> 00:06:54.730
- Like Mike was saying, like, Podcast Insider,
197
00:06:55.270 --> 00:06:57.290
- we're gonna keep doing it because
198
00:06:58.035 --> 00:06:59.715
- we do it for the company. You know?
199
00:06:59.715 --> 00:07:01.415
- We do it for our customers.
200
00:07:02.995 --> 00:07:04.754
- So it's a little harder to be like,
201
00:07:04.754 --> 00:07:07.235
- oh, I'm burned out. But we just took
202
00:07:07.235 --> 00:07:09.154
- a hiatus. You know? We took a break
203
00:07:09.154 --> 00:07:09.975
- because, like,
204
00:07:10.699 --> 00:07:13.180
- this doesn't necessarily feel good to be putting
205
00:07:13.180 --> 00:07:13.680
- out.
206
00:07:14.540 --> 00:07:15.279
- So let's
207
00:07:15.740 --> 00:07:17.339
- let's come back to it in a little
208
00:07:17.339 --> 00:07:19.379
- bit when we feel a little better and
209
00:07:19.379 --> 00:07:21.339
- a little bit more comfortable. So I think
210
00:07:21.339 --> 00:07:22.879
- that is a version of burnout.
211
00:07:24.274 --> 00:07:26.194
- And so re you know, changing the format
212
00:07:26.194 --> 00:07:27.654
- of the show
213
00:07:28.435 --> 00:07:30.514
- has, I think, helped us. And, you know,
214
00:07:30.514 --> 00:07:32.355
- we've been doing some work behind the scenes
215
00:07:32.355 --> 00:07:34.194
- to go, okay. Can we be a little
216
00:07:34.194 --> 00:07:36.055
- bit more intentional instead of,
217
00:07:36.430 --> 00:07:37.949
- oh, we're just gonna turn on mics on,
218
00:07:37.949 --> 00:07:40.050
- and whatever we talk about, we talk about.
219
00:07:40.589 --> 00:07:42.349
- You know, like, with with my I have
220
00:07:42.349 --> 00:07:45.470
- a daily show, and I I'm not pod
221
00:07:45.470 --> 00:07:48.209
- fading it, but I've been on hiatus for
222
00:07:48.349 --> 00:07:49.425
- a month and a half.
223
00:07:50.625 --> 00:07:52.404
- And I am coming back to it.
224
00:07:53.185 --> 00:07:53.685
- Uh-huh.
225
00:07:54.064 --> 00:07:56.884
- Okay. No. I'm going to. I'm going to.
226
00:07:57.104 --> 00:07:58.944
- But and and the daily one was, you
227
00:07:58.944 --> 00:08:00.245
- know, five minute
228
00:08:00.784 --> 00:08:01.604
- or so
229
00:08:02.089 --> 00:08:03.389
- daily local show.
230
00:08:04.009 --> 00:08:04.509
- And,
231
00:08:05.289 --> 00:08:07.289
- you know, I I can flip on the
232
00:08:07.289 --> 00:08:09.129
- mic right now and record one. It would
233
00:08:09.129 --> 00:08:10.669
- take no time at all.
234
00:08:11.129 --> 00:08:13.209
- And and, you know, and I've purposely made
235
00:08:13.209 --> 00:08:14.909
- it so that I
236
00:08:15.209 --> 00:08:16.509
- don't have a huge
237
00:08:17.205 --> 00:08:17.705
- postproduction.
238
00:08:18.165 --> 00:08:19.064
- I don't have
239
00:08:19.444 --> 00:08:22.004
- a huge preproduction. You know? I find the
240
00:08:22.004 --> 00:08:23.764
- topic I wanna talk about, talk about it
241
00:08:23.764 --> 00:08:26.004
- for five minutes, read the weather, and call
242
00:08:26.004 --> 00:08:26.824
- it a day.
243
00:08:27.444 --> 00:08:30.250
- And Right. Yeah. And that's, you know, it's
244
00:08:30.250 --> 00:08:32.809
- super easy. And and that's you know, I
245
00:08:32.809 --> 00:08:34.730
- designed it that way, so I wouldn't burn
246
00:08:34.730 --> 00:08:37.049
- out. You know, a daily show is hard
247
00:08:37.049 --> 00:08:38.730
- to do. I don't care how short it
248
00:08:38.730 --> 00:08:39.230
- is.
249
00:08:40.089 --> 00:08:41.309
- And, you know, so
250
00:08:42.054 --> 00:08:44.715
- to avoid burnout, you know, be realistic
251
00:08:46.215 --> 00:08:47.274
- in your schedule.
252
00:08:48.375 --> 00:08:50.455
- Weekly seems to be the sweet spot. You
253
00:08:50.455 --> 00:08:53.175
- know, most people can have the same amount
254
00:08:53.175 --> 00:08:55.409
- of time every week, but, you know, there's
255
00:08:55.409 --> 00:08:57.970
- times when that doesn't work. So, you know,
256
00:08:57.970 --> 00:08:58.470
- maybe
257
00:08:58.769 --> 00:09:01.409
- plan ahead, record an extra one to throw
258
00:09:01.409 --> 00:09:03.750
- in on the weeks that, you know, your
259
00:09:04.370 --> 00:09:05.350
- regular schedule
260
00:09:06.210 --> 00:09:08.049
- doesn't allow for you to do it if
261
00:09:08.049 --> 00:09:10.384
- you wanna keep on a strict schedule or
262
00:09:10.384 --> 00:09:12.164
- don't set a strict schedule.
263
00:09:12.625 --> 00:09:14.064
- I mean, I I listen to a lot
264
00:09:14.064 --> 00:09:15.584
- of shows that, you know, I just never
265
00:09:15.584 --> 00:09:17.345
- know when I'm gonna get an episode, and
266
00:09:17.345 --> 00:09:18.084
- that's okay.
267
00:09:18.544 --> 00:09:19.365
- It's not
268
00:09:19.985 --> 00:09:22.164
- ideal. It's not best practice,
269
00:09:23.024 --> 00:09:24.485
- but it works.
270
00:09:24.870 --> 00:09:27.129
- You know? And it works for the creator.
271
00:09:27.750 --> 00:09:29.509
- I mean, it's very popular to happen over
272
00:09:29.509 --> 00:09:32.009
- the summer, though. Yeah. Summer and holidays.
273
00:09:32.710 --> 00:09:33.210
- Mhmm.
274
00:09:33.750 --> 00:09:36.149
- Those are definitely the two that get away
275
00:09:36.149 --> 00:09:38.784
- from people. They're like, oh, I had all
276
00:09:38.784 --> 00:09:40.784
- the intentions in the world to do this,
277
00:09:40.784 --> 00:09:43.585
- but I just got busy doing something else.
278
00:09:43.585 --> 00:09:45.365
- That's just the way the world works.
279
00:09:45.745 --> 00:09:47.745
- And I think to kinda go back to
280
00:09:47.745 --> 00:09:49.605
- the question you asked, Mackenzie, about,
281
00:09:50.779 --> 00:09:52.240
- like, preventing it.
282
00:09:52.620 --> 00:09:54.060
- I think a a lot of it is
283
00:09:54.220 --> 00:09:55.740
- it's kind of funny. Like, for me, the
284
00:09:55.740 --> 00:09:56.879
- more that I do,
285
00:09:57.259 --> 00:09:58.639
- like, our video content,
286
00:09:59.100 --> 00:10:00.879
- the more I I think about the processes
287
00:10:01.259 --> 00:10:04.254
- people are taking to make their show. And
288
00:10:04.254 --> 00:10:06.434
- a lot of what I see is,
289
00:10:07.695 --> 00:10:08.914
- especially with new creators,
290
00:10:10.095 --> 00:10:11.855
- they are they think they have to do
291
00:10:11.855 --> 00:10:14.034
- all of the things on day one.
292
00:10:14.574 --> 00:10:17.554
- They, you know, they have to be doing,
293
00:10:18.049 --> 00:10:20.449
- you know, high end video production. They have
294
00:10:20.449 --> 00:10:23.329
- to have all of their music and sound
295
00:10:23.329 --> 00:10:26.049
- effects and, like, all of the things. And
296
00:10:26.049 --> 00:10:27.990
- it has to be perfect on day one.
297
00:10:28.449 --> 00:10:28.949
- And
298
00:10:29.889 --> 00:10:30.629
- I think
299
00:10:31.009 --> 00:10:31.509
- that
300
00:10:32.524 --> 00:10:33.965
- they kinda get in their own heads about
301
00:10:33.965 --> 00:10:35.105
- it. And
302
00:10:36.045 --> 00:10:36.545
- by,
303
00:10:36.925 --> 00:10:39.644
- you know, episode three, episode five, that they're
304
00:10:39.644 --> 00:10:42.045
- just not having fun with it anymore. And
305
00:10:42.045 --> 00:10:44.205
- I know not everybody podcasts to have fun,
306
00:10:44.205 --> 00:10:45.805
- but there has to be an element of
307
00:10:45.805 --> 00:10:46.305
- enjoyment
308
00:10:46.860 --> 00:10:49.179
- when you're making a show, even for for
309
00:10:49.179 --> 00:10:51.419
- work. Like, we have to enjoy talking to
310
00:10:51.419 --> 00:10:52.080
- each other,
311
00:10:52.700 --> 00:10:53.600
- and presenting
312
00:10:53.980 --> 00:10:54.639
- the company
313
00:10:55.259 --> 00:10:56.480
- to our audience.
314
00:10:57.259 --> 00:10:59.580
- But I think a lot of creators we
315
00:10:59.740 --> 00:11:01.184
- I I see this all the time when
316
00:11:01.184 --> 00:11:01.684
- I'm
317
00:11:02.225 --> 00:11:05.205
- on Reddit and on social looking for stuff.
318
00:11:05.424 --> 00:11:07.585
- It's just people like, oh, here are, like,
319
00:11:07.585 --> 00:11:08.965
- 15 things I need.
320
00:11:09.345 --> 00:11:11.424
- Can you give me more suggestions of more
321
00:11:11.424 --> 00:11:12.485
- things that I need
322
00:11:12.865 --> 00:11:15.184
- rather than just going, okay. This is episode
323
00:11:15.184 --> 00:11:17.750
- one. It's not gonna be perfect, but I'm
324
00:11:17.750 --> 00:11:20.870
- looking ahead to what I want episode 25
325
00:11:20.870 --> 00:11:22.409
- or 100 to be.
326
00:11:22.950 --> 00:11:24.149
- I I think it a lot of it
327
00:11:24.149 --> 00:11:25.450
- is a mindset thing,
328
00:11:25.830 --> 00:11:26.330
- and
329
00:11:27.029 --> 00:11:29.049
- you don't know you're going to burn out
330
00:11:29.269 --> 00:11:30.649
- in those beginning days
331
00:11:31.134 --> 00:11:32.815
- because you're not thinking about the later days.
332
00:11:32.815 --> 00:11:35.315
- Does that make any sense at all? Yeah.
333
00:11:35.855 --> 00:11:37.534
- Yeah. For sure. I took the long way
334
00:11:37.534 --> 00:11:39.714
- around to explain that like usual.
335
00:11:40.254 --> 00:11:42.334
- You you start a podcast and then you
336
00:11:42.334 --> 00:11:44.595
- slowly start to lose the horizon sometimes.
337
00:11:45.054 --> 00:11:47.320
- Yeah. Yeah. Well, you didn't you think too
338
00:11:47.320 --> 00:11:48.940
- far ahead. You know? And that's,
339
00:11:49.559 --> 00:11:51.559
- I guess, not bad. You know, long term
340
00:11:51.559 --> 00:11:52.620
- planning is
341
00:11:53.000 --> 00:11:55.259
- is not necessarily a bad thing, but
342
00:11:56.120 --> 00:11:58.360
- Yeah. Talk you know, think thinking about what
343
00:11:58.360 --> 00:12:00.855
- you're gonna do six episodes from now,
344
00:12:02.054 --> 00:12:02.554
- maybe
345
00:12:03.414 --> 00:12:05.975
- realistic, may maybe not. You know? With this
346
00:12:05.975 --> 00:12:08.934
- one, we're gonna try to, you know, stay
347
00:12:08.934 --> 00:12:11.274
- topical to what's going on in the industry
348
00:12:11.334 --> 00:12:14.294
- and what's going on around Blueberry and what's
349
00:12:14.294 --> 00:12:16.720
- going on, you know, with us individually.
350
00:12:17.740 --> 00:12:18.240
- So
351
00:12:19.339 --> 00:12:21.259
- it probably would be hard to plan it
352
00:12:21.259 --> 00:12:22.960
- out too far in advance,
353
00:12:23.659 --> 00:12:25.519
- though we do have a list of
354
00:12:26.460 --> 00:12:26.960
- of
355
00:12:27.644 --> 00:12:31.085
- proposed topics for, each of our recording sessions,
356
00:12:31.085 --> 00:12:33.805
- and there's nothing wrong with that. And and
357
00:12:33.884 --> 00:12:35.404
- but we can switch it up if we
358
00:12:35.404 --> 00:12:37.245
- need to. And that's the other thing to
359
00:12:37.245 --> 00:12:39.820
- avoid burnout. Switch it up some. You know,
360
00:12:39.820 --> 00:12:41.039
- do something different.
361
00:12:42.299 --> 00:12:44.639
- You know, don't stick to a format
362
00:12:44.940 --> 00:12:46.159
- that is becoming
363
00:12:46.700 --> 00:12:48.299
- hard for you to do. You know? Maybe
364
00:12:48.299 --> 00:12:51.039
- do something completely different for one episode.
365
00:12:52.024 --> 00:12:54.264
- You know, on one of my shows, when
366
00:12:54.264 --> 00:12:57.225
- the AI voice thing was happening and before
367
00:12:57.225 --> 00:12:58.605
- it was turned it called
368
00:12:58.985 --> 00:12:59.644
- AI Slop,
369
00:13:00.105 --> 00:13:02.024
- I thought, what the heck? So I cloned
370
00:13:02.024 --> 00:13:04.445
- my voice on, on one of the AIs
371
00:13:04.504 --> 00:13:05.004
- and
372
00:13:05.679 --> 00:13:07.759
- and then wrote a script and had the
373
00:13:07.759 --> 00:13:08.980
- thing read it. And
374
00:13:09.360 --> 00:13:11.039
- okay. Yeah. You know, I don't wanna put
375
00:13:11.039 --> 00:13:12.480
- that out all the time, but I thought
376
00:13:12.480 --> 00:13:14.399
- that was pretty cool. You know, and it
377
00:13:14.399 --> 00:13:16.079
- definitely did not sound like I mean, it
378
00:13:16.079 --> 00:13:18.079
- sounded like me, but did not sound like
379
00:13:18.079 --> 00:13:19.539
- the way I normally talk.
380
00:13:20.595 --> 00:13:22.674
- You know? And it was obviously AI, and
381
00:13:22.674 --> 00:13:23.174
- I
382
00:13:23.475 --> 00:13:25.315
- said it right there. This is AI. I'm
383
00:13:25.315 --> 00:13:26.294
- playing with it.
384
00:13:27.634 --> 00:13:29.575
- But, you know, do something experimental.
385
00:13:30.434 --> 00:13:32.855
- You know, if you don't do video, maybe
386
00:13:33.154 --> 00:13:35.014
- throw a video up one time.
387
00:13:35.669 --> 00:13:36.409
- Why not?
388
00:13:37.429 --> 00:13:39.129
- Now I'm actually curious,
389
00:13:39.990 --> 00:13:42.549
- Mackenzie, to hear burnout from your point of
390
00:13:42.549 --> 00:13:44.789
- view when it comes to podcasting because you've
391
00:13:44.789 --> 00:13:47.590
- been doing the company show for a long
392
00:13:47.590 --> 00:13:48.730
- time. Yeah.
393
00:13:49.205 --> 00:13:51.384
- Yeah. I should say company shows.
394
00:13:52.884 --> 00:13:55.524
- It's same show, different title. I think that's
395
00:13:55.524 --> 00:13:56.024
- the
396
00:13:56.565 --> 00:13:59.285
- the essence of it. So PowerPress podcast. You
397
00:13:59.285 --> 00:14:00.825
- you know, we threw you to the wolves
398
00:14:00.965 --> 00:14:03.065
- and said, here. Do this.
399
00:14:04.340 --> 00:14:05.720
- So yeah. I mean,
400
00:14:07.220 --> 00:14:10.519
- whenever I was doing, pod or the PowerPress
401
00:14:10.660 --> 00:14:11.160
- podcast,
402
00:14:11.860 --> 00:14:14.440
- I started doing that for Blueberry in
403
00:14:14.980 --> 00:14:16.360
- spring of twenty fifteen.
404
00:14:17.065 --> 00:14:18.684
- And I think it was
405
00:14:20.024 --> 00:14:21.625
- 2018, 2019
406
00:14:21.625 --> 00:14:22.125
- when
407
00:14:22.584 --> 00:14:24.184
- when Todd came to me, and he was
408
00:14:24.184 --> 00:14:24.684
- like,
409
00:14:25.225 --> 00:14:27.225
- you're done. He was like he he's like
410
00:14:27.304 --> 00:14:29.704
- he he's like, you're not saying you're done,
411
00:14:29.704 --> 00:14:31.690
- but, like, I can tell that you are
412
00:14:31.690 --> 00:14:32.429
- with it.
413
00:14:32.889 --> 00:14:33.870
- I you know,
414
00:14:34.170 --> 00:14:35.370
- I was like, well, I'm not gonna tell
415
00:14:35.370 --> 00:14:37.049
- my boss that I'm done with this right
416
00:14:37.049 --> 00:14:38.990
- now, but that is he was correct
417
00:14:39.450 --> 00:14:42.250
- in in, you know, changing courses because I
418
00:14:42.250 --> 00:14:43.549
- was done with it.
419
00:14:44.090 --> 00:14:46.110
- It was just one of those things that
420
00:14:46.434 --> 00:14:47.634
- at the end of the day, I was
421
00:14:47.634 --> 00:14:49.235
- like, I've been doing this for a couple
422
00:14:49.235 --> 00:14:51.795
- years. I'm having trouble getting guests. I don't
423
00:14:51.795 --> 00:14:52.295
- enjoy
424
00:14:52.995 --> 00:14:55.315
- the recording setup that we have currently in
425
00:14:55.315 --> 00:14:57.254
- this office for it. I was just like,
426
00:14:57.634 --> 00:14:58.375
- it's not
427
00:14:59.159 --> 00:14:59.899
- a joy
428
00:15:00.519 --> 00:15:01.899
- in my workday anymore.
429
00:15:02.360 --> 00:15:04.440
- And for many years, you know, on and
430
00:15:04.440 --> 00:15:06.860
- off over these times, like, that has definitely
431
00:15:06.919 --> 00:15:08.779
- been a joy doing the podcast.
432
00:15:09.799 --> 00:15:11.820
- And at that time, it was it definitely
433
00:15:11.879 --> 00:15:12.914
- was not, and I
434
00:15:13.875 --> 00:15:15.875
- he could tell that I was burnt out
435
00:15:15.875 --> 00:15:17.014
- on it for sure.
436
00:15:17.794 --> 00:15:18.855
- Yeah. So
437
00:15:19.954 --> 00:15:22.134
- I got a break for a while there.
438
00:15:22.514 --> 00:15:24.934
- Todd and Mike did a show
439
00:15:25.315 --> 00:15:26.054
- that I
440
00:15:26.549 --> 00:15:28.490
- honestly forget the name of right now.
441
00:15:29.110 --> 00:15:30.649
- And then Was it your podcast?
442
00:15:31.110 --> 00:15:33.590
- Yeah. That's what it was. It was your
443
00:15:33.590 --> 00:15:35.450
- pod you guys did that for a while.
444
00:15:35.590 --> 00:15:38.649
- Yeah. It was it was definitely your podcast.
445
00:15:38.710 --> 00:15:40.570
- It's still in the system somewhere.
446
00:15:42.304 --> 00:15:44.144
- But after that, we you know? And then
447
00:15:44.144 --> 00:15:45.504
- you guys did that for a couple years,
448
00:15:45.504 --> 00:15:46.485
- and then we hit,
449
00:15:47.585 --> 00:15:48.085
- COVID.
450
00:15:48.465 --> 00:15:50.625
- And and you guys were like, alright. We
451
00:15:50.625 --> 00:15:52.065
- need to change it up. It's been a
452
00:15:52.065 --> 00:15:52.804
- couple years.
453
00:15:53.105 --> 00:15:55.125
- The two of us are burnout doing this.
454
00:15:55.220 --> 00:15:57.620
- Let's add it. Let's bring Mackenzie back into
455
00:15:57.620 --> 00:15:58.019
- this.
456
00:15:58.820 --> 00:16:00.899
- Give it some new life again because that
457
00:16:00.899 --> 00:16:02.580
- is kinda what you have to do every
458
00:16:02.580 --> 00:16:03.860
- couple of years if, you know, if you're
459
00:16:03.860 --> 00:16:04.759
- doing a show
460
00:16:05.220 --> 00:16:07.184
- once a week or so for all for
461
00:16:07.345 --> 00:16:09.524
- that amount of time, you do need to
462
00:16:09.825 --> 00:16:11.684
- change things up like you guys said.
463
00:16:12.065 --> 00:16:14.705
- So I think it's all, you know, from
464
00:16:14.705 --> 00:16:15.445
- that perspective,
465
00:16:16.384 --> 00:16:18.865
- maybe advocate for yourself and for the show
466
00:16:18.865 --> 00:16:19.365
- better
467
00:16:19.879 --> 00:16:21.480
- because I don't think I was doing that.
468
00:16:21.480 --> 00:16:23.179
- I think I was just like, oh,
469
00:16:23.639 --> 00:16:26.679
- drag it. Like, being pulled along for a
470
00:16:26.679 --> 00:16:29.879
- minute there, and, I probably should've just spoken
471
00:16:29.879 --> 00:16:31.399
- up. I mean, Todd would've been fine with
472
00:16:31.399 --> 00:16:33.960
- it. I just, like, didn't go with that
473
00:16:33.960 --> 00:16:34.460
- battle.
474
00:16:35.345 --> 00:16:37.345
- Yeah. I I know, like, Todd was always
475
00:16:37.345 --> 00:16:38.725
- the advocate for
476
00:16:39.425 --> 00:16:41.745
- you never take a break. You do an
477
00:16:41.745 --> 00:16:43.524
- episode every week unless
478
00:16:43.985 --> 00:16:47.184
- you absolutely cannot. And I remember, like, when
479
00:16:47.184 --> 00:16:49.789
- I started working here just being like, I
480
00:16:49.789 --> 00:16:52.750
- can't do that. Like Yeah. That that that
481
00:16:52.750 --> 00:16:53.809
- makes me uncomfortable.
482
00:16:54.269 --> 00:16:56.350
- Like, I have to take breaks. Like, I
483
00:16:56.350 --> 00:16:58.269
- have I have a family that needs me
484
00:16:58.269 --> 00:16:58.929
- to, like,
485
00:16:59.789 --> 00:17:02.110
- do all of the the family things. I
486
00:17:02.509 --> 00:17:03.409
- you know? And
487
00:17:03.914 --> 00:17:06.075
- that's not a slight against Todd in the
488
00:17:06.075 --> 00:17:08.815
- least. It was just he had the ability
489
00:17:08.875 --> 00:17:09.615
- to just
490
00:17:10.075 --> 00:17:10.575
- go.
491
00:17:11.035 --> 00:17:11.535
- And
492
00:17:11.994 --> 00:17:14.095
- I I think my advice now
493
00:17:14.554 --> 00:17:15.295
- would be
494
00:17:16.154 --> 00:17:17.855
- build in some breaks
495
00:17:18.509 --> 00:17:19.250
- into your
496
00:17:19.789 --> 00:17:21.549
- show. Like, if it's if it's close to,
497
00:17:21.549 --> 00:17:24.769
- like, Thanksgiving and Christmas here in The US,
498
00:17:25.070 --> 00:17:27.789
- just take a break or prerecord so that
499
00:17:27.789 --> 00:17:30.210
- maybe there is something or there's something special
500
00:17:30.910 --> 00:17:33.555
- because you're gonna be busy those times of
501
00:17:33.555 --> 00:17:34.295
- year. So
502
00:17:34.914 --> 00:17:37.015
- so take a break so that
503
00:17:38.035 --> 00:17:39.795
- it just it's good for you, but it's
504
00:17:39.795 --> 00:17:42.674
- also working for your audience. And then also
505
00:17:42.674 --> 00:17:44.375
- make sure that you're taking a vacation.
506
00:17:44.835 --> 00:17:46.890
- Again, you can work ahead if you don't
507
00:17:46.890 --> 00:17:49.130
- wanna miss a single week if you're doing
508
00:17:49.130 --> 00:17:50.349
- weekly. But,
509
00:17:51.049 --> 00:17:53.309
- yeah, like you said, advocate for yourself
510
00:17:54.250 --> 00:17:55.869
- because that is going to
511
00:17:56.970 --> 00:17:59.734
- help the the show in the end.
512
00:18:01.634 --> 00:18:03.234
- Yeah. I don't think I ever really thought
513
00:18:03.234 --> 00:18:04.055
- about it until
514
00:18:05.154 --> 00:18:07.015
- until now, but that's
515
00:18:07.474 --> 00:18:09.634
- that's definitely part of it. You know? It's,
516
00:18:09.954 --> 00:18:12.615
- those guilt free breaks that you give yourself.
517
00:18:13.059 --> 00:18:14.359
- I don't know what that is.
518
00:18:14.660 --> 00:18:16.259
- Well, you know, in this and you you
519
00:18:16.259 --> 00:18:17.559
- mentioned it before, Mackenzie,
520
00:18:17.940 --> 00:18:18.440
- summertime,
521
00:18:18.820 --> 00:18:19.480
- you know,
522
00:18:19.779 --> 00:18:21.320
- at least in the Northern Hemisphere,
523
00:18:22.420 --> 00:18:22.920
- is,
524
00:18:23.700 --> 00:18:25.220
- you know, a time where there's a lot
525
00:18:25.220 --> 00:18:26.200
- of busy happening.
526
00:18:26.825 --> 00:18:29.704
- You know, people travel, people have vacations, they
527
00:18:29.704 --> 00:18:31.464
- go to the beach, they got, you know,
528
00:18:31.464 --> 00:18:33.484
- lawn work to do, all the
529
00:18:33.945 --> 00:18:35.964
- stuff that kinda gets in the way.
530
00:18:36.345 --> 00:18:38.025
- There's no there's no shame in taking a
531
00:18:38.184 --> 00:18:39.625
- you know, take a week off, take a
532
00:18:39.625 --> 00:18:40.619
- couple weeks off,
533
00:18:41.339 --> 00:18:43.579
- from your podcast if that's what you wanna
534
00:18:43.579 --> 00:18:44.079
- do.
535
00:18:44.539 --> 00:18:45.039
- Yeah.
536
00:18:45.819 --> 00:18:46.880
- Again, you know,
537
00:18:47.500 --> 00:18:49.900
- pick pick a crappy day and record four
538
00:18:49.900 --> 00:18:52.240
- episodes, and then you know?
539
00:18:52.700 --> 00:18:54.619
- There there's there's ways around it if you
540
00:18:54.619 --> 00:18:57.404
- wanna keep on schedule. And, you know, best
541
00:18:57.404 --> 00:18:59.404
- practice is to be on some sort of
542
00:18:59.404 --> 00:19:01.904
- schedule so people know when to expect episodes,
543
00:19:02.204 --> 00:19:03.825
- but it's not a requirement.
544
00:19:04.605 --> 00:19:07.085
- And, you know, again, there's no rules in
545
00:19:07.085 --> 00:19:08.384
- podcasting, really.
546
00:19:08.799 --> 00:19:10.640
- Do do what works for you if you
547
00:19:10.640 --> 00:19:11.859
- wanna keep doing it.
548
00:19:12.880 --> 00:19:14.720
- And I think another thing is, like and
549
00:19:14.720 --> 00:19:16.400
- I think we're gonna talk about this in
550
00:19:16.400 --> 00:19:17.619
- the future. But
551
00:19:18.160 --> 00:19:20.820
- we've seen in podcasting this
552
00:19:21.200 --> 00:19:23.059
- uptick in people who are
553
00:19:23.945 --> 00:19:24.845
- making a show
554
00:19:25.305 --> 00:19:28.424
- as a side gig. You know? Well, let
555
00:19:28.424 --> 00:19:31.065
- me let me make some money doing something
556
00:19:31.065 --> 00:19:32.285
- that I'm enjoying doing.
557
00:19:32.904 --> 00:19:34.045
- And I think sometimes
558
00:19:34.984 --> 00:19:35.484
- when
559
00:19:35.865 --> 00:19:36.845
- that is how
560
00:19:37.210 --> 00:19:39.610
- you're framing it because I I kinda ran
561
00:19:39.610 --> 00:19:41.390
- into this with the
562
00:19:42.250 --> 00:19:44.410
- the show I just got done doing where
563
00:19:44.410 --> 00:19:46.170
- I was like, I don't know. This is
564
00:19:46.170 --> 00:19:48.170
- kind of the thing that I would love
565
00:19:48.170 --> 00:19:50.250
- to do for a living. I I love
566
00:19:50.250 --> 00:19:53.595
- helping podcasters, but, like, producing this real fun
567
00:19:53.595 --> 00:19:57.035
- audio drama, that would just be, like, that
568
00:19:57.035 --> 00:19:58.654
- would be the dream job.
569
00:19:59.035 --> 00:20:01.615
- And so it's really easy to
570
00:20:02.394 --> 00:20:03.375
- get yourself
571
00:20:04.119 --> 00:20:06.440
- working so much on that thing and working
572
00:20:06.440 --> 00:20:08.539
- toward that dream that is way far
573
00:20:09.000 --> 00:20:09.900
- down the way
574
00:20:10.519 --> 00:20:13.579
- that you burnout will sneak up on you.
575
00:20:13.720 --> 00:20:15.640
- You know, especially when you're like, well, this
576
00:20:15.640 --> 00:20:17.000
- is a way for me to bring in
577
00:20:17.000 --> 00:20:18.059
- some extra money.
578
00:20:18.875 --> 00:20:20.794
- You know, things are tight. Like, I I'm
579
00:20:20.794 --> 00:20:22.014
- not gonna deny that.
580
00:20:22.315 --> 00:20:22.815
- But
581
00:20:23.115 --> 00:20:25.674
- sometimes that just kinda clouds your judgment. So
582
00:20:25.674 --> 00:20:26.575
- I would recommend,
583
00:20:27.274 --> 00:20:29.694
- you know, keep that keep that dream
584
00:20:30.315 --> 00:20:31.534
- living on your wall,
585
00:20:31.835 --> 00:20:33.534
- but also, like, don't
586
00:20:34.099 --> 00:20:35.480
- don't sacrifice yourself,
587
00:20:37.940 --> 00:20:39.859
- to get to that dream. You know? Don't
588
00:20:39.859 --> 00:20:41.700
- hurt yourself. Otherwise, you're just not gonna make
589
00:20:41.700 --> 00:20:42.759
- it to that dream.
590
00:20:43.299 --> 00:20:45.080
- Yeah. That's, what is it?
591
00:20:45.539 --> 00:20:46.200
- You know?
592
00:20:46.820 --> 00:20:48.580
- Something is on fire, but you don't have
593
00:20:48.580 --> 00:20:49.799
- to burn yourself down.
594
00:20:50.644 --> 00:20:52.184
- Awesome. Along those lines,
595
00:20:52.565 --> 00:20:54.345
- don't let your podcast be that.
596
00:20:55.525 --> 00:20:57.605
- I guess so we don't burn out. Let's,
597
00:20:57.845 --> 00:20:59.625
- cut this episode short.
598
00:21:02.660 --> 00:21:03.140
- Just,
599
00:21:04.660 --> 00:21:06.819
- yeah, I guess the the takeaway I I
600
00:21:06.819 --> 00:21:08.920
- would come from this is just,
601
00:21:09.380 --> 00:21:11.720
- you know, do do what works for you.
602
00:21:12.420 --> 00:21:13.859
- If you need to take a break, take
603
00:21:13.859 --> 00:21:16.404
- a break. If you need to change your
604
00:21:16.404 --> 00:21:18.904
- schedule, change the show format, do
605
00:21:19.284 --> 00:21:21.065
- do do whatever it takes
606
00:21:21.444 --> 00:21:21.764
- to,
607
00:21:22.565 --> 00:21:24.325
- make it so you know, or change topics.
608
00:21:24.325 --> 00:21:26.565
- I've had shows that I've listened to that
609
00:21:26.565 --> 00:21:28.890
- did change topics over the years. You know,
610
00:21:28.890 --> 00:21:30.730
- if you're doing a show about cats, don't
611
00:21:30.730 --> 00:21:32.730
- start doing a show about horses on the
612
00:21:32.730 --> 00:21:34.970
- same feed. That's kinda weird. But but, you
613
00:21:34.970 --> 00:21:36.589
- know, change up the topic,
614
00:21:37.210 --> 00:21:40.009
- maybe a little bit. You know, like, with
615
00:21:40.009 --> 00:21:42.190
- us, you know, we when we were doing
616
00:21:42.795 --> 00:21:45.595
- your podcast, it was all you know, it's
617
00:21:45.595 --> 00:21:47.215
- kinda like what we're doing here,
618
00:21:47.755 --> 00:21:48.654
- talking about
619
00:21:49.275 --> 00:21:52.315
- things that podcasters should think about, or we
620
00:21:52.315 --> 00:21:54.075
- talked about that kind of thing. When we
621
00:21:54.075 --> 00:21:55.289
- switched it to Podcast
622
00:21:55.609 --> 00:21:57.289
- Insider for the first bit of it, we
623
00:21:57.289 --> 00:21:59.390
- were doing a lot of topical news.
624
00:21:59.690 --> 00:22:01.769
- And then we kinda got away from that
625
00:22:01.769 --> 00:22:04.330
- in in one of our revamps. And, you
626
00:22:04.330 --> 00:22:06.650
- know, so, you know, changing the topic up
627
00:22:06.650 --> 00:22:08.809
- a little bit is not a bad idea
628
00:22:08.809 --> 00:22:09.224
- either.
629
00:22:09.625 --> 00:22:11.224
- Like you said, Mike, like, there's not really
630
00:22:11.224 --> 00:22:13.065
- any rules. You have to do what works
631
00:22:13.065 --> 00:22:14.505
- for you and do what works for your
632
00:22:14.505 --> 00:22:17.704
- audience. But Yeah. Don't don't hit this burnout
633
00:22:17.704 --> 00:22:20.444
- wall so hard that you just you're done.
634
00:22:21.065 --> 00:22:22.825
- Because I think we have some really good
635
00:22:22.825 --> 00:22:23.325
- podcasters
636
00:22:23.625 --> 00:22:24.525
- out there that,
637
00:22:24.880 --> 00:22:26.559
- you know, they just they burn out, and
638
00:22:26.559 --> 00:22:28.000
- they're just like, I'm done. I'm over it.
639
00:22:28.000 --> 00:22:30.159
- And I've I've been one of those people
640
00:22:30.159 --> 00:22:32.240
- for the longest time. You know, when I
641
00:22:32.240 --> 00:22:34.559
- stopped doing the show I was doing, I
642
00:22:34.559 --> 00:22:36.319
- was just like, I can't do another one.
643
00:22:36.319 --> 00:22:38.819
- I can't put that much of myself into
644
00:22:38.880 --> 00:22:39.380
- something
645
00:22:40.304 --> 00:22:40.804
- just
646
00:22:41.424 --> 00:22:44.144
- to burn out like that. So learn learn
647
00:22:44.144 --> 00:22:45.044
- from my mistakes.
648
00:22:46.544 --> 00:22:47.044
- Yeah.
649
00:22:47.825 --> 00:22:49.984
- We at Blueberry would like nothing less than
650
00:22:49.984 --> 00:22:52.224
- for you guys to, crash and burn with
651
00:22:52.224 --> 00:22:53.444
- your podcast. So
652
00:22:53.799 --> 00:22:56.119
- I would say lean on the lean on
653
00:22:56.119 --> 00:22:57.720
- the support team every once in a while
654
00:22:57.720 --> 00:22:59.160
- if you have to as well to figure
655
00:22:59.160 --> 00:23:00.680
- out, you know, like, maybe how could I
656
00:23:00.680 --> 00:23:02.380
- make this easier on myself with
657
00:23:02.920 --> 00:23:05.320
- with how do I publish this? Like, how
658
00:23:05.320 --> 00:23:06.920
- do I get this scheduled to publish it
659
00:23:06.920 --> 00:23:09.474
- later? How do I, like, make my life
660
00:23:09.474 --> 00:23:11.875
- easier with this with the tools that I
661
00:23:11.875 --> 00:23:12.694
- already have?
662
00:23:13.234 --> 00:23:14.914
- Because that's also a big part of it
663
00:23:14.914 --> 00:23:15.734
- is, you know,
664
00:23:16.355 --> 00:23:19.234
- setting up whatever type of system works for
665
00:23:19.234 --> 00:23:20.855
- you can definitely
666
00:23:21.539 --> 00:23:24.420
- be easier with something that Blueberry offers is
667
00:23:24.420 --> 00:23:26.660
- my guess. Yeah. We got a lot of
668
00:23:26.660 --> 00:23:27.799
- tools, and maybe
669
00:23:28.420 --> 00:23:30.259
- you maybe you didn't know you could schedule
670
00:23:30.259 --> 00:23:32.900
- episodes, but you can. And that's always a
671
00:23:32.900 --> 00:23:34.605
- great thing to do when when possible. I
672
00:23:34.605 --> 00:23:36.044
- I mean, that's what I'm gonna do later
673
00:23:36.044 --> 00:23:37.804
- this month when I am on the beach,
674
00:23:37.804 --> 00:23:39.325
- and the last thing I'm thinking about is
675
00:23:39.325 --> 00:23:39.904
- a podcast.
676
00:23:40.444 --> 00:23:40.944
- Right.
677
00:23:41.565 --> 00:23:44.224
- Besides maybe the one that I'm listening to,
678
00:23:44.444 --> 00:23:46.625
- but certainly not this one. Right.
679
00:23:47.964 --> 00:23:50.640
- Alright, guys. Thanks for listening. We are podcast
680
00:23:50.640 --> 00:23:52.320
- insider. We'll talk to you in a couple
681
00:23:52.320 --> 00:23:53.070
- of weeks.
